This pic is from a 1972 HMSO publication 'Driving'. It shows pretty well how much faffing about is needed when a driver goes into a space forwards. If you ever see a driver parking like the green car here, I'm willing to bet they'll probably be over 60. Reverse parking is better by far, but there are valid reasons you might need to park 'nose in', so do it that way if you have to.
